Large Dining Table

A very substantial dining table showing strong simple lines for a steading kitchen.

Kist

Designed for a customer with a very specific piece in mind. The “cat’s paw” features in the figure of elm were selected for the top and corners of this piece, with striking results in a piece with very simple lines.

Large Chest of Drawers

Substantial drawer capacity is featured in this piece in Cedar of Lebanon. Strong simplicity was the theme from the customer’s brief. The use of wide boards in the construction allowed the flowing lines of this wood to show off its soft warmth.

Bookcase and Cupboard

This piece has almost no ornamentation, relying on proportions and aptness of scale to fit the living room for which it was made. It was made as a set with a low cupboard featured in the modern gallery (click here to see it). Three more matching pieces were also commissioned to complete the modern furnishing of an old farm steading. The strong presence of elm was an important feature of this design solution.

Dining Table

A table to seat six in a very restricted dining space in a modern kitchen. A circular table with three legs proved to be the solution. Many options for leg design were considered with the customer producing a hybrid from two of the many options I offered. The top uses thick and wide cedar of Lebanon boards to fully utilise the capacity of real wood to transform a space.
